under the stewardship of alan fitzpatrick, 8 sided dice recordings continues to maintain its reputation as one of the most consistent techno labels to emerge in recent times thanks to a steady stream of well-received releases. the label operates as both a home for high profile artists and an outlet for emerging talent, striking a balance between output from fitzpatrick and that of his contemporaries, including contributions from rich jones, chris colburn, on/off, harvey mckay, hans bouffmyhre and nicole moudaber. established in 2008 as a vehicle for alan fitzpatrick to release his own music, 8 sided dice has evolved on an impressive trajectory in line with fitzpatricks own career.

harvey mckay has recorded quality music on soma and lately on 8 sided dice. he has already done a remix for trapez, but this is his first solo 12 inch vinyl. the two tracks can loosely be considered as dub techno although they bend the genre in an nice way.

vince watsons bio imprint is now back in full flow, and following on from >pressure< we now have the 2nd installment of the release, with some very exclusive guest mixes and yet another killer track from vince himself. first up is steve rachmad, who has featured on bio before, previously remixing the classic >aurelon< in 2004 ... so he is back this time to give >pressure< the rachmad treatment. a fantastic example of steves production skills and really takes >pressure< into a different direction. absorbing and hypnotic, but with the killer dancefloor twists ... this is what vinces bio music label is all about!

the opening track from the debut simon baker album was always going to be a strong choice to be the first single. no pressure has received unanimous praise since the albums release and is back with new remixes by art department and simon himself. its rare to get great stand out vocal tracks that dont split opinion, but this seems to be one of them. its slick, deep house of the highest calibre with a stand out hooky vocal from debukas. art department, owners of ras number one track of 2010 drop a superb remix, adding new vocals and teasing debukas back into the mix for a pretty special, hypnotic workout. simons >upstate dub< mix finishes things off. it aims things directly at the dancefloor in his signature, deep and twisting style.
